Every year, Guild members knit, weave, felt, or otherwise create different items for children in the Nevada County foster children's program, for the holidays. The effort is organized county-wide by the Nevada County Sheriff's Department.
During the holiday season, foster children, up to age 18, receive a hat, mittens, gloves, a felted toy, a scarf, or another fiber-related item, usually accompanied by a gift card or certificate. We tend to focus on items for teens and older children, as other generous county residents tend to buy toys and clothing for younger children. Examples are below.
